Austere brutality from the States. Death Metal composed of thunderous Drums and war-mongering Riff – not war metal – and crushing death march Vocal command. Cold, raw-ish Death Metal with divebombing Guitars, varied pace, and a certain Black Metal feel – I wouldn’t call this Black/Death (or Blackened Death Metal?) but it certainly has something of the frost-bitten vibe and a few Blackened Guitar parts. No gore, no zombies, no satan – just War! The recording is very bright and clear, but certainly not polished, just nicely mixed and plenty loud. Cracking demo.

Immutable Grindcore fury from the US. Landfill is Will Olter from Methlab Explosion, Hot Babes and a few other bands and projects, with Andy of Gonzo favourites Captain Three Leg on Vocal duties for this release only (I belive Landfill change vocalist from release to release). They kick out 10 tracks of raging Grindcore full of hate and piss, thrashing Punk 3 chord Guitar destruction, crusty influence and just a shed load of total fucking rage. Fast and irate. Really genuinely angry sounding shit; a trait common through Will’s various projects. Andy’s angry dad Vocal tops this one off nicely, replete with his usual grump lyrical stylings. Excellent stuff. Suppression are legends and do their thing here with the usual gusto and aplomb; freak sauce Grindcore/Power Violence implosion, weirdo noise(core) atrocities committed on the unsuspecting. Rattling Bass, insane Drumming and Vocal regressions into the reptilian. Blown out recording quality, lots of echo effects, uniquely strange and angry as only Suppression sound. Grab a tape if you can! Indispensable.

An excursion into an 8-bit dungeon, super serious and completely pointless. Engaging and kind of dynamic, sounding like a play-through of various boss chiptune arenas. Dungeon-keeping and a bit gloomy, but with almost none of the ‘Dungeon Synth’ or Black Metal influence this stuff often has; instead this sounds literally transplanted from an ultimately obscure RPG, forgotten to time (or the ’80s). Think Ghosts n’ Goblins, rather than Burzum or something. Meandering and silly, yet strangely enticing and worthy of repeat listening. You will never escape GORP! And perhaps you won’t want to.

Chainsaw Death! 4 tracks of promising Swedish Death Metal, made dangerously by young Americans, sharing members with the excellent Grindcore band Fiend, among others. Savage divebomb solos, horrible flesh ripping Riffs and lowest necro Vocal, tightly played but not clinical or even remotely techy. HM2 guitar pedals, Punk mentality and playing – fast and loose, no triggering or anything here. Savage and necrotic OSDM played right by Punks. This is another of those recent Death Metal demos that received a great deal of hype when it was released, and it’s not without merit. Dig it, Ghouls.

Noisy Crust from Seattle, featuring members of the now defunct and fucking almighty Acid Feast, Tripping Corpse, Hideous Creep and others. D Beats, huge Crusty Guitar tones, lots of mid paced stomping, blast beat parts and wasteland mutant Vocal grunt. The kind of Deathly Crust that tickles my pickle. Loud, blown out and not entirely melodic, noisy and deadly. Boneheaded Crustcore for post-apocalyptic skull collectors; simplistic in the best possible way, no frills, just crusty CRUSH! Cool demo, this one.
