Depraved War Noise Sludge from the shell shocked minds of K.S. and D.N.E., also of the irrepressible and inexplicable Tsalal and  Black Abyss. Barbarous and corpulent black sludge noise, looming sky-blackening barrages of artillery blast percussions mix mid paced war blasts and yet slower canon dirges, bass heavy drudge of grinded mangled riffs blown apart, insane battlefield distorted echo wyrd vocal incantations proclaim orders and liturgies across the line, drone infrared patterns exposed prone forms in the sweltering jungle, tracers shatter the treeline… doomed wartorn Psych(o)edelia, dread violent Sludge and Grind sturm und drang. Bloody mud in the fields of fucking death! The cassette features some excellent prison art style, demonic forms painted across riverbanks as manifestations of conflict like battlefield phantasm trading cards, vile totems of pyrrhic victory. Canned heat – Contents under pressure – front towards enemy.

Ušumgal is a newer project from Washington D.C, sharing members with the excellent Genocide Pact and Goetia, among others. Their 2022 demo presents 3 blood drenched screeds of War Metal atrocity, a contamination of barbed, barbarous Death Metal, tar black War Metal dark as burning pitch. The guitars are brutish, unyielding and scalding, coiled tightly around torqued up blast-stacked Drums and a rumble of ravening Bass, driven war command vocal in a reek of smoldering creosote. There’s a cruel, crude streak of crust influence in the thumping storming drumming, ravenously switching tempos beneath the Guitar and Bass work to maximize skull crushing damage. Intense and vitriolic shit. Fans of War Metal regressionists Caveman Cult or Death Metal dumbells Torture Rack, take heed and take up your axes! These apes are full to burst with war-like cunning and vulgar promise.

Impious cataclysmic Black Death War Gore Metal from fukk knows where (I’m pretty sure one of these freaks lurks in Flint, Michigan…) glowering with overwhelming outsider hostility. Anti-dogmatic rhythms blast and groove with near-Industrial elements grinding in mid-pace with an anvil-strike snare; mean, ugly, accursed Guitars casting grind, gore and DETH riffs, damned in leaden fires of booming lo-fi production, a raking torment of remorselessly heavy corpse-bloated Bass, adorned with hazardous, hissing, cackling vocal of the fukked up and perverse, tainted with ghastly effects. Heaving, seizured, molten Death Black Metal of violent persecution, dangerous and fukking ravenous. Like Catasexual Urge Motivation, Black Mass of Absu or Bestial Putrefaction, Hematoma operates in a sound that’s difficult to pin down to extant genre tropes, as it pulls every extremity into it’s carbonised black hole vortex to create absolutely VILE, truly impetuous Black Death Metal for the end tymes (hopefully). Pestilential and sordid, prison Satanism, homeless urban occultism, malformed victims crucified upside down… verminous. Be afraid.

Oakland’s Funeral Chant lurks from the shadows beneath the forsaken overpass to strike with Black Death vengeance!! A putrid breath exhalation of evil Blackened Death Metal mastery, exercised in furiously breathless style with bombastic, tyrant blasting and doom-mongering voluminous atmosphere from behind the kit, some chaotic War Metal aesthetic and opprobrium and a penchant for death-thrashing riff archaisms ala Necrovore, wicked vocal foaming at the mouth in heretical rage and sin, dire delay effects – despotic and uproarious, angel ripping metal of fukking DETH. Carbonized Records has been dredging some amazing shit to the fore, what with Steel Bearing Hand’s album of the year contender ‘Slay In Hell’ last year, and recent efforts from Isotope, Funeral Leech and Socioclast each being beyond worth your attention, they’ve quickly become a label to slavishly follow. ‘Dawn of Annihilation’ continues this gauntlet-run with disgraceful honor. Two man War Gore Metal monstrosity! Impious apocalyptic Death/War/Gore of total cataclysm, cyclonic Blast Beat and D-Beat barrage with killer massive surface-impact shockwave sound, Guitar and grinding Bass battery of discernably merciless riffs swallowed by a maelstrom of percussive firepower noise, breathless Death Metal riffage buried beneath miasmic noise gore rivers of melted blood and fat only to resurface in a murderous groove, super primitive echo-drenched firebreathing vocal grunt and vomit – this is a visceral and disgusting meeting of bulldozing Goregrind and Blasphemous Black/Death/War Metal. Rabid, retrogressive barbarism, a virulent puking mass of radioactive warring DETH from the realm of endless attrition – I’ve heard that the excellent Sentient Ruin Laboratories have designs on a re-release of this one, and their equally excellent first demo, which sounds a bit like Proclamation with D-Beats. Flamethrowers to the Cowards!

Following drummer Mars Sekhmet’s abrupt relocation to Austria almost eight years ago, the prospects of a third Antediluvian album seemed slim, but like a bat-winged demon descending from the firmament, Canada’s premier aural terror squadron have finally returned to unleash their latest monstrosity, an ungodly cataract of sonic intimidation tastefully themed around the sundry incarnations of sexual blasphemy. Way weirder and more inscrutable than the dissonant death dealers to whom they’re frequently compared (Portal; Teitanblood; Altarage), Antediluvian stretch their claustrophobic cacophony almost to breaking point here, rampaging down rabbit holes of abrasive blackened murk for a full sanity-threatening hour. Track titles such as ‘Sadomaniacal Katabasis (Last Fuck Of The Dying)’ and ‘Winged Ascent Unto The Twelve Runed Solar Anus’ drop clues as to just how unhinged the prurient depths of this mind-mangling racket are, but really, there’s no substitute for total immersion. Almost impossible to describe without using phrases like ‘ritual slaughter with power tools’, ‘The Divine Punishment’ is death metal taken to staggering extremes of abhorrent excess. Trust me, you’ll love it.
