GROSS LOAD – ‘EXPOSED TO FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE’

A fat gelatinous wad of gore soaked Death/Gore/Grindcore from drum machinegunner Gross Load. Delirious with mongo-grooves and surging soupy gore riffs gushing bubbling liquid ichor, shockingly fluid and dynamic, sinew bound to the steaming drum machine beneath, hammering banging and slamming with rictus tight programmed blasts and tupa-tupa mince/thrash beat breakdowns, unwieldy and clattering, slathered with ultra brutal hamsandwich deth vocal. Deadly and megafast, groovy and girthy. ‘Exposed To Forbidden Knowledge’ reminds me of ANb’s ‘The Glue That Binds Us’ 7″, those tracks featuring a deathly flavour to the riffing and with that absurd and bizarre mondo vocal, an atmosphere of antisocial insanity and insalubrity that Gross Load shovels out here in sloppy, chuggy, gooey bucketfuls. TARTARUS HORDE – ‘SCEPTER OF THE LUNAR ECLIPSE’

Pennsylvania’s Tartarus Horde with their second demo, a feast of scowling, grinding Death Metal with ancient dark fantasy themes. Imbued with extremely prominent barbarous low vocal death commands, savage sawbladed evil riffs with intense archaic Heavy Metal/Speed Metal style, and thrashing, blasting drumming, heavy on the dense slow movements and played with deranged verve and violence. Flaying dexterous solo work, perfectly pitched Bass twang conquest, and an unexpected and excellent track of brightly twilit dungeon dwelling synth bloop. Despotic and fucking warlike, nasty Death Metal/Deathgrind violence captured within a very old school separated right/left Bass/Guitar mix with dry atmosphere. Reminds of violent Death Metal ala Torture Rack, but with a hefty sludgy smear of Grindcore influences adorning it’s tattered standards. Blood drenched tyrannic savagery!

NEKRO DRUNKZ – ‘TERMINAL PERVERSION’

Nekro Drunkz, Oregon’s filthiest sons, here summon a horrific amalgam of Thrashing dummy Death Metal and punk as fukk toilet burbling Goregrind. Deathly, insanely maniacal head banging pervert trash Thrash and absolutely decimating wall-of-shit Gore/Grindcore – Chaotic and intense, erect, violent and steaming fucken drunk. Necrotized and insane sounding, callous and perverse. In taking sound cues from all the squelchiest, stinkiest elements of Deathgrind, Death Metal, Grindcore, Goregrind, Thrash and maybe even a bit of Crusty Punk, Nekro Drunkz have conjured an avalanche of septik deth straight from the bowels of fukken hades. Mad catchy headbang (handbang?) summoning riffing, stomping thrashed out drumming with lots of blast beats, and furious gurgling perv vocal upchuck and roaring poser decimation. This album is a seriously good time. And that cover art is obviously sikk as fukk. Completely essential.

DETHRONED EMPEROR – ‘MORAL NIHILITY’

Bloodsoaked Deathgrind cenotaph from the now defunct Dethroned Emperor – no frills, no bullshit, absolutely no quarter. Members have gone on to feature in some of NJ’s most fearsome Metal bands, Altar of Gore and the irascible Siege Column to name just two. Blighted sepulchral Guitars leaden with downtuned, crushing Bass tones carving gnarly, deathly riff patterns and merciless chugs, super no nonsense, tight and heavy lethal drumming matches the Guitars move for move, sick as fukk low throat harsh vocal. A blunt, obstinate, steel girder sledge of priapismic Death Metal wrenched forcefully into a form of Grindcore, furious in misanthropic outrage. Super succinct in style, songcraft boiled down to its essence and stripped of unnecessary repetition or indulgence – just song after song straight to the teeth. Borne out of similarity to Assück, not just sonically; their despondent outlook on humanity here presented with similar spite and vulgarity, but with less overt political pinning. Burly, brutal, imperious and incorrigible. Get obliterated.

GUTLESS – ‘MASS EXTINCTION’

Killer EP from 2017. Australian trio Gutless cracks four tracks of wildly energetic, refreshingly tight and ruthlessly precise Death Metal affrontery. Furious, muscular deth thrash riffs and Suffo riffs, grinding Bass sound blurring the edges and snappy killer drumming full of superblasts and half time beatdowns, toothless low vocal incredulity emanating total rage and berzerker intent, with a primary focus on songcraft assassination. Meticulously crafted ragers to impel brute violent response in the listener – the fast parts are whipped out in an insane lather Grindcore style, then come the warped headbangin’ solos, dripping with azagthothian discord and chaos. Drooling murderous pit terminators chopping up posers and tourists in the mosh – violent and fucking crazed on blood! I await a full length from these freaks with baited breath.

ETHEREAL SELF TITLED DEMO

3 tracks of grinding Death Metal excellence, dynamic and brutal Deathgrind with some killer guitar work, catchy as fuck slobbering riffs from across an interesting gamut of crusty Death Metal and Grindcore, some amazingly discordant solo work and excellently maniacal blunt vocal, and some really nasty breakdown parts constructed around moronically heavy double bass and tempo switches. Hard as fuck. This is another band that features the inimitable blast beats of Isaac Horne, so you can expect some special kung fu shit going on behind the kit. Excellent drum sound, too, with lots of live presence and rehearsal room sound. Ethereal went on to complete a full length on Aggressively Uninterested, which I look forward to checking out. This one’s gnarly as sin.

Barbarous Brutal Death Metal with lots of slamming pit terminator parts –  you can expect that any project that Adrian Cappelletti touches will bear an indelible mark of repugnant savagery, as you hear in the noisy bludgeoning of Lurid Panacea, Incinerated and to a slightly lesser degree Disentomb. Deliquesce has an awesome combo flavour of old Ripping Corpse, Suffocation and Angelcorpse, and Willowtip Deathgrind like Circle Of Dead Children. Fleshpeeling complex riff battery high end meets bruising mids Bass hammers, impeccably pitched Bass sound squonking beneath sheets of sizzling Guitar, roaring, screaming vocal kill and fluid, formidable drumming defining their mutated, pugnacious brutal Deathgrind sound. 4 more tracks of fucked up antihuman Deathgrind from the deep woods of Russeville, Kansas. One of many, many projects from Bobby Maggard of Regurgitated Stoma Stew Productions. Serial Killer Goregrind and nasty, simple Death Metal and Deathgrind, rancid low vocal spew with shit heaps of blast beats and more mid paced chugging crush, with some slamming parts and tons of groove. The songs are pretty long, allowing the slower parts to linger for longer, and for a more lasting, knuckle dragging, brain corroding effect. Excellently raw Bass sounds, drum machine blast brutality, filthy perv pitch shifted vocal retch and spew. Like a mix of early Devourment, CBT and Dysmenorrheic Hemorrhage. Lo- fi, imbecilic, drooling Deathgrind and Goregrind. I fucking love that rubber head and chainsaw cover art combo, too. Ridiculous.

4 tracks of rancid Goregrind and Death Metal from Bobby Maggard, one man Gore machine extraordinare. A hideous and very home-made shrine to fucked up and perverse Deathgrind from the sticks – lots of crushing mid paced chugging, corpse croak vocal morgue huffing, deathly riffs dripping with infected pus. Brutal rolling double bass drums, killer grinding Bass sounds, murderous atmosphere. There’s lots of blasting but also plenty of tempo drops and slow as hell Bass-lead chug and stomp. Degenerate, deranged Death Metal and demented Goregrind, serial killer sounds played by a maniac of pure Gore devotion. Bobby fuckin rules!!

BURNT DECAY DEMO 2019

Furious, nihilistic, blistered Deathgrind from the States. It’s a short, vicious demo, the production is sizzling and nicely blurred out and melted-loud.
