This tiny two song release from Girls Names, their second on Grindcore Karaoke, is an open letter to Randall asking him to host their stuff, and sort of a love letter to Grindcore Karaoke itself. The two tracks on offer here are predictably great; the title track is very catchy, with an almost Speedcore sound and great simplistic lyrics, and an amazing, grinding tone on the melody. The vocal also reminds me of some kind of obscure J Pop, which is always good! The second track is noisier and more chaotic, with bitcrushed melodies and the usual scoop of fuzzed up digital Noise. Check it out for the open-letter-as-digital-release concept, stay for the sugary Grindcore madness!

Girls Names are a three piece Digital Grindcore band from Canada, who have been very prolific in the last 18 months. This is their first release, and their first hosted on Grindcore Karaoke. Insane, Pop influenced, brutal electronic Grindcore with squeeky/shout vocal/low vocal, catchy arrangements, digital Noise of all flavours, blastbeats, and a smearing of weird samples. I can’t tell if the melodies are played on Guitar and then manipulated or keyboards or whatever, all I know is this stuff is wildly catchy and very noisy simultaneously, which is mad impressive. I love this stuff because it entirely sidesteps any of the boring tropes many Grindcore bands fall into; the songs are about Frankenstein monsters, quitting smoking and working at the build a bear factory (on this release alone), and the vibe is totally fun!
