Ringdahl returns… yet another indispensable Punker-than-punk Gore tape from Canada. Expect Guitar/Bass carbonization oozing rendered fats, ulcerated mutant teeth-gnashing vocal carnage and overdriven rudimentary drum machine, plonk/pingy snare sound, catchy as fuck riffs, utterly deranged blastbeat sections with slower stomping/blasting Mincer parts. Neanderthal D-Beat Punk Goregrind. Andy really is very good at sneaking deliciously stupid and catchy melodies into these gross demos he churns out. As has I have said here before, many of the man’s Gore projects sound not all that different, but when they’re pretty much all this putrid/stupid good, who really gives a shit? Extra points for the combination of the terms Cannibalistic and Miscarriage, too. Fuck me, that’s really rather silly.

Cystoblastosis is a recent 3 peice Mince/Gore band from St Petersberg. This short demo is comprised of stomping Mince tempo punk blasts, with rattling, strangling Bass, echo-ish rehearsal room Drums and necrotic, rasping pitch shifted Vocal. It’s crusted over, reeking and disgusting, with lots of troglodyte grooves, blasting parts and little subtlety, poorly and loudly recorded. The recording quality well accentuates Cystoblastosis’ plodding stampede of weird internet Mincecore. Gory, putrid, Punk as fuck, low rent, lo-fi, lovely. Check it out.
Collection of unreleased 30XX tracks released posthumously I think. 30XX has always been a very engaging project to me, combining lots of styles, sounds and aesthetics from other media that I enjoy. Goreman’s 30XX is singular, pure and in a way perfect. These tracks feature plenty of collaborations, and cover ground from digitally sourced Noise, freakout Gabber, Speedcore, Goregrind, Gorenoise, Darkwave and others, and do so with deft ability; combining into a hyper-defined singularity of digital destruction. Live drums, Drum Machine blast beats, reverse Gore churn Vocal, hyped thumping Bass pulses, occasional J-Pop parts, samples, dive-bomb solos, Gore spewing, introverted, Cyberpunk, Internet-genre abusing madness. This actually makes a good introduction to 30XX’s weird alternate reality take on all the sounds they meddle(d) in. Essential.
Pyoderma Gangrenosum is another project of Goregrind reprobate Andy Ringdahl of Hyperemesis, Reekorhoea and about 40 other bands and projects. This stuff is low rent even by Andy’s standards; fuzzy, crappy blasts of sloppy Autophagia style Goregrind. Real Drums, hollowed-out skull Guitars and Vocal retching of the full-retard kind. Punk as fuck, raw, sloppy Gore nonsense, played for passion and churned out really quick. His conquest of Bandcamp’s Goregrind tag has to be applauded; although you may argue many of his various projects sound near-identical, his sound is immediately recognisable and the man has made quite the online empire for himself. Excellent, as always.
Split between two younger Goregrind/Mince bands from the States, who both absolutely kill it on this one. Acid Feast is a three piece from Seattle, who play a dextrous blend of classic Grindcore and affiliated styles. Death Metal, Mincecore, Grindcore and Goregrind are each borrowed from, forming an instantly enjoyable and totally brutal sound. Hardcore Punk influenced Drums mixed with classic blast beats, sharp Guitar attack and varied yet devotional High/Low/Gore wipeout Vocal. Everything’s done just right; each influence keeping the others in check, never leaning too hard on a specific style and in doing so creating something loveably familiar feeling and totally reverent to the old gods. Totally Punk approach too, with no room for noodling and plenty of high energy Crust power chord parts. Girth from Michigan play a similar yet fatter, broader side to what Acid Feast are doing. If Acid Feast is a razor to the face, Girth is a sledgehammer to the skull. Absolutely crushing, fat-cocked Minces just slamming down on your weak frame over and over again. Big fat Bass/Guitar explosion, super stomp-into-blast beat Drum patterns, super low/shriek Vocal and a layer of filth all over everything, so deep you’ll never scrape it all off. Their side is mixed much louder than the Acid Feast side, which is a shame, but otherwise this is another excellent split highlighting the cream of current Goregrind (un)talent.

4 songs of girthy Goregrind courtesy of Marci/Parazitozis. Raw, thick and nasty, with broad Guitar/Bass, varied echo/grunt/ super low vocal, lightspeed blasting and punishing caveman Polka Mince crush mixed together in excellent fashion, creating purulent brew of Gory stinking slop. Primitive, sloshy, awesome! All the influences are in the right place, taking elements of Mince, old Goregrind/Grindcore/Noisecore and Crust and perfectly combining until golden brown, stoned and decomposed. This whole thing was written and recorded in under 3 hours, and that urgency is not lost in these foul compositions. Parazitozis is one of those projects that never disappoints! Nice one Marci.
Frantic, Mincing carnage from Canada’s Sickener. Combining rancid, idiotic Mincecore and furious Grind, Sickener have nailed a combination of styles keeping Canadian Grindcore some of the most currently relevant and, more importantly, fucked up sounding. Speed-blitz blast beats, hammering D beat Punk, downturned string mangling with plenty of Deathly riffs, up-tempo Polka Mince destruction and insane squawking/grunting vocal spew. The production’s entirely loud and destructive, but everything’s audible in the mix. Totally Punk, raw and disgusting, drunk sounding and wasted. Cool.
